This course examines the growing role of diplomacy in addressing global environmental and sustainability challenges, focusing on the UAE’s leadership in sustainable development and its alignment with Vision 2071. Participants will explore key international frameworks and agreements, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and understand how diplomacy can advance environmental protection, resource management, and climate action. The course blends theoretical approaches with real-world case studies to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainability on a global stage. Emphasis is placed on developing practical solutions for the future, with a focus on global cooperation and
sustainable development initiatives.

Objectives

  • 1. Analyse the role of diplomacy in addressing global sustainability challenges and how it aligns with UAE Vision 2071.
  • 2. Apply diplomatic strategies to promote international cooperation on environmental issues, resource management, and sustainable development.
  • 3. Evaluate the effectiveness of international agreements and frameworks, such as the Paris Agreement and SDGs, in fostering global sustainability.
  • 4. Create sustainable development initiatives through diplomatic channels, focusing on global partnerships and solutions.
  • 5. Develop leadership skills for managing sustainability-focused diplomatic efforts, preparing participants for leadership roles in global environmental diplomacy.
